I am building up a study on the 2d jubilee and have a query on shades.
SG specialised lists green and scarlet, "grey-green and crimson" and "yellow-green and crimson". I have seen the description "green and vermilion" on some old album pages from 1990's that I've bought. I had a gap in my collecting years and would appreciate any update on how the catalogueing may have changed over the years. I feel that "vermilion" may have changed into "scarlet" or is it a separate shade? :?:
Also there are quite a few variations such as "deep" yellow green, grey-green, crimson etc... but I cannot find where to buy a Hendon Catalogue :?: which reputedly has comments on the rarer shades.
Regards
Phil :)

I can answer my own question now. ;)
The 'vermilion' name was changed to 'scarlet' for the same stamps some years ago, don't know why, but agree the shade looks more scarlet than vermilion. The scarlet was not due to an issue or ink change but reported due to normal production variance only. A report seen states due to platelets settling (poor mixing). The shade scarlet as well as carmine seen in a range from light to deeper. This all fits with the variance that could be expected in normal production over a few years. 8-)
Greatly interested in any comments on the 2d Jublee. :)
