I am preparing a paper in conjunction with the GBOS, of all Wilding cylinders Overprinted for use in the various territories that used these issues in the 1950/60's. Does anyone have any cylinder blocks that they wish to dispose of, or any information on these that they consider might be useful to me in this project, please?

The early Wilding 6d stamps from cylinders 1,2 and 3 were produced from single pane cylinders unlike all the other values which were from double pane cylinders. The later 6d's from cyl 5 onwards were double pane.
Can anyone please tell me why the single pane cylinders were used.

Harrison - the only real 'printing force' for photo stamps at that time were over - run with work and had difficulty in meeting deadlines, because of the significant weat of cylinders Due mainly to the chalk fillers used in uncoated paper
All these would have been obtained from the Crown Agents - who, at the time were busy lining their pockets with taxpayers money - see the 'Fay report'

Naturally these are scarce.

Single pane cylinders were in vogue for smaller pint runs - certainly the larger presses were used - check the dates of printing
