imperf plate 77,
is it just me, but are all " i " row stamps inverted nothing in the books about them?

Im very much a novice, but im guessing if it were a true error it would be listed somewhere. Ive looked at the registration sheet and the ' I ' do look to be inverted... Bottom serif shorter than the top ?

But it could be the way the punch was held - maybe more of a top tilt upward putting a larger weight on the top of the letter??

Galveston is correct , it is the way the punch was held which caused this .
It is not actually recognised as a true inverted letter, I read this a long time ago in one of the old reference books.
I believe that many of these old books are charming to read but can be very misleading and sometimes simply wrong.
