Does anyone have an example of the one penny Lake Brown 1855 C3 (4), which has been
removed from the Gibbons catalogue , and how do you write up a stamp which is no longer classified, is there any justification for Gibbons doing this?
I believe that some form of explanation is required, if they have not already done this.

Hi,

Not sure which catalogue you are using but the shade you mention is not in the 16th Edition of the Specialised which was issued in 2011?

In that edition there were only 3 shades noted, in the new Specialised Volume 1 Part 1 just issued (Dec 2020) there are now 6 to chose from.

A C9/C9A split has also been introduced and the whole lot of myths and cobwebs have been blow away .. well worth getting a copy if you haven't already done so.

Something to enjoy in 2021.

Hi Wine963
Many thanks for your reply, my SG Catalogue is about 30 years old. I havent updated
it because i no longer use Gibbons as a source of information, over the years it has
contained errors and misleading infomation in some areas. I know that Gibbons can be
reluctant to alter the listings because of old time collections and past certifications that
have to be changed.

Having ploughed my way through the new SG QV specialised catalogue it is refreshing to say that much has been updated and changed. You mention an old previous edition which is well out of date. Well worth the investment in this new SG catalogue.
