Marginal markings on photogravure 1½d

Post by Harvey »

I started collecting the 1934-36 photogravure issues in about 1955, paying particular attention to the marginal markings, especially those of the experimental periods between the start of new perforating methods. However, this is the first time that I have come across the line in the left margin (opp the gutter between rows 3 and 4), and I have no idea what its purpose could be. If anybody has any ideas or, indeed, direct knowledge of the purpose for this mark, I shall appreciate learning of it.
