The Right Hon Viscount Melville - 1881

Post by zkab6900 »

Have 3 covers addressed to the Right Hon Viscount Melville - all from the Year 1881 and addressed to his Office at 7 Portugal Street, Grosvenor Square, London.

My question is - Which Viscount is this - there have been 10 to date ?

Pics added.....

From the Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viscount_Melville), it looks like the 4th Viscount -- 1876-1886.

So that would be Robert Dundas.....

Could have been the 5th as well - also a Robert Dundas (1835-1904).

Surely only the 4th Viscount?
As I see it, the 5th would have inherited the Viscount Melville title on the death of the 4th in 1886. Your covers are from 1881, five years earlier.
