Who created this KEVIII stamp/coin pack?

Hello All,

I have a 'pack' which contains the complete set of KEVIII stamps plus the British Medallic Pattern Crown.

I have been unable to find any information regarding the source of this item.

The inscriptions read:-

'KING EDWARD VIII
1936
* Became Prince of Wales 1911
* Accession January 1936

British Medallic Pattern Crown

* Abdication December 1936
* Married Wallis Simpson 1937

Complete and original unused 1936 British postage stamp set.'

The second scan shows the reverse of the pattern crown engraved 'CYPRUS'

Can anyone shed any light on who designed and issued this?
Any help appreciated.

Regards.
Ron.

Hey Ron,

Surely the "Cyprus" is the clue. Have you tried the Cyprus High Commissioner's office (or, excuse me, if Cyprus is an independent country, the embassy?).

There's usually somebody in these places that has the job of responding to cultural issues... the Cultural attache?

Good luck, Robin (Restall)

Hi Robin,
Good thought but the problem is that Cyprus was not the only country to issue the Medallic Pattern Crown. I had checked for the crown on the 'coins' list on e-bay and was surprised at the amount as I had never even heard of that before.
Thanks
Ron.
