Gum types

Post by gerrycox15p »

Firstly, let me apologise for asking what to many of you will be a very dumb question. I mainly collect modern GB definitives, but also have a large collection of George V and IV stamps that need cataloguing and sorting. For the life of me I cannot find any information on what type of gum was used. I'm currently dealing with George VI stamps but, even trawling through SG GB specialised vol. 2, I simply cannot find any gum-related information.

Can someone put me out of my misery please???

Apart from the QV line-engraved, fairly confident that up until the early £sd Machin period it was always natural gum arabic -- that would be standard for KGV/KGVI. Can't recall any other gum types being used until you get into the synthetics in the QEII era.
