Bradbury Wilkinson Castles plate blocks

Post by Dav6 »

Hi
I hope you are all well.
After buying a bunch of castle blocks I found in the SG specialised pre-decimal book that the plate numbers are noted in blocks of 4.
Does anyone specialise in these Castle blocks and can they tell me if such blocks are colected now.
I came accross a block of 2/6 plate 13A the SG value is £500.00

I specialise in the Wilding Castles and I have carried out considerable research into this issue. See my Stampex exhibit in the display section which was awarded a Large Gold.

The SG catalogue value the 2s6d plate 13A is an error and should read £5. I have been asked numerous times over this value. Incidentally strictly speaking it is a pane number and not a plate number.

People have been misled by this valuation and I know of at least one being sold for £125 in auction, despite of me informing the auctioneer of the incorrect catalogue value.

The scarce plate for the 2s6d is 4/4A. My exhibit gives details.

Hope this helps.
