As all of you will have noticed on the back of your programme card sent to you mid year, there are the contact details of members prepared to offer advice and information on different aspects of GB philately. We recommend their knowledge to you!

Equally, you will have noticed that the QEII reign is 69 years currently – and counting. Whilst all of us thought that the Queen Victoria issues over only 61 years were an extensive period of change, the current reign is an equal match. As a result, Council has agreed that the QEII consultant role should be divided into pre-decimal, the short period to 1971, and decimal, the major portion.

So, we are pleased to announce that Scott Kibby has agreed to take the role of QEII Decimal Consultant. Scott is well known amongst the decimal fraternity (as well as QV) and you may recall that he was the lead speaker at our Machin meeting day in November 2018. More recently, you will have read his article in the January Journal tracing the stamp issues by De La Rue as they gradually assimilated printing competitors.

Many GBPS members collect the decimal issues in varying depth. Indeed, these include some of the major players so it is apparent that, with Scott in the lead role for the decimal issues, it is unlikely that a member query will go unanswered. His email is qeiidecimal@gbps.org.uk.

As members become more confident with the modern issues, it is hoped that further articles will appear in the Journal and Newsletter to provide greater technical and general coverage. For the QEII Pre-decimal issues, Ian Harvey will remain as the consultant – a much easier task! His email is qeiipredecimal@gbps.org.uk. As usual, these details will be printed on future programme cards and, if you lose that, they are on the website!
