Odd Blue-grey cancellation on Plate 56 Die 1

Post by Seahorse »

Could someone please help with identification of a cancellation?
This is a blue-grey barred oval with what appears to be a lined diamond inside. The odd thing is that the long axis of the diamond does not line up with either of the axes of the oval. I did wonder if it was a double impression.
Unfortunately the stamp is creased and otherwise damaged, but I am still curious.

I believe it's a normal Irish diamond numeral - see the attached image. Best wishes, Mike

Many thanks - I can see it now from your enhanced image - what I thought was a corner of a London-style internal diamond is in fact the figure "7"
