Hello All. I've been a member for a few months now. I collect and research Crimean War postal history and other documents. Are any other members interested in this topic? If so please let me know. Thanks.

Adrian, I don't have a special interest other than its an important part of world history, but wish you well with your collecting interest.

I hope you have seen the superb Crimean War PH display by an Italian doctor (was at Stampex a year ago) and have items like this one that was on e-whatsit a couple of months ago, showing the 1856 peace celebration at Trafalgar Square

Hello Winston W. Thank you very much for responding to my post and even though you aren't particularly interested in that aspect of postal history, it's really nice to receive a reply so I know that at least someone has read and appreciates my request and interest.

The irony of this is that I have found no one else in the UK who specialises in this subject though I have made contact with people in Europe who do. I do have my share of really good envelopes and letters though they aren't quite as good as those of the Italian doctor. Incidentally he is a New York neurosurgeon so he probably has deeper pockets than I do but I have been told by a mutual contact that he doesn't want to talk about his collection and I got no response when I emailed him.

I purchase Crimean War material wherever I can find it if it interests me. This includes ebay though I tend to treat this with caution. There are lots of interesting newspapers on there but the only one I bought was a copy of the Manchester Guardian from 1854 which had a newspaper stamp.

Thanks very much for your best wishes and the same to you whatever you collect. Are you also interested in postal history?
