In the 1840/50s The Post Office's Daily Packet List provided information in table form from the Ship Letter Office of ships sailing to specific destinations carrying ship mail.
Colin Tabeart illustrates one of these tables (for 10th Jan 1843) in his Vol 1 book on Mails to / from Australia NZ & the UK.
I'd like to find an extract for May 1854 - does anyone know if the Postal Museum / Archive holds these records? or where else they may be referenced?

The Postal Museum catalogue seems to indicate they have copies for the period concerned

You may be able to obtain the information you want from appropriate newspapers for the period. The British Newspaper Archive has Lloyds List which has shipping information and may have other papers which include such. You would have to subscribe unless you are a member of a library which has a subscription - many do.
