Re: The multiple crown Wilding stamp papers 2

Of the three unlisted types of multiple crown watermarked papers that appeared from around 1964 onwards previously discussed, I found that the fluorescent fibre contaminated ones to be of the greatest importance and interest ! It was stated by the late Aubrey Walker. whilst working at the Dollis Hil...

Hi Jim, I think you will find an updated version of Austin Barnes original article on this site under downloads available to all members, it may be that you have already discovered it since your original posting being made in 2017, but if that is not the case, that's where you'll find it, hoping thi...

BARGAIN BRITISH STAMPS FROM A YESTERYEAR ! (FREE CALCULATOR)

I was fortunate enough a couple of years ago in obtaining a calculator that gave you what the £ was worth in the past in comparison to it's worth today and as a stamp collector of many British periods, I thought it would be nice to know just how much people had paid for a particular stamp or set of ...

Re: Distribution of Wildings with phosphor bands

Good evening MOZ, Most of your queries can be answered by looking at the article produced by professor Austin J Barnes in an article by the name of " British post office phosphors ", that can be located by first going to the home page then go into 'downloads' where you will find philatelic...

Re: UNCOATED PAPER ON 4d BRIGHT VERMILION

Hi MOZ, It's quite possible that the editor of the handbook Hanns Fasching might be able to give you some information that you are seeking, I can't guarantee that you will get an answer as he is rather a busy person, but being Machins I'm sure he will try and help you rather than search for previous...

Hi MOZ,
The vertical pair are gum arabic, but the block of 4 are PVA, I am not a specialist in the Machin issues and do not possess a Deegam handbook, please bear that in mind. Thank you WM.

Hi MOZ, I am in full agreement over the similarity of papers used for the un-watermarked Wildings and the pre-decimal Machins, however, that is not the topic ! But to compare similarities/differences between the same issue for my posting on the subject of coated papers. IMG_20200519_124809.jpg Here ...

Hi Mike, On the topic of coated papers I have examined several values other than stamps for cooks book, and noticed certain other values appertaining to this anomaly the like of which can be seen in the following scan. IMG_20210719_013157.jpg The 2d+9d values appear to be non-coated whilst the 8d du...

Re: The multiple crown Wilding stamp papers 2

In the opening segment of this posting, I gave a general guide as to the three unlisted types of paper to be found issued since 1962, beginning with the problem of the contaminated papers that seem to have originated around 1964 leading to further action being taken to rectify the situation, over th...

By the way David, would you say that the adjoining cover is a long perf stamp ? If not, then could you show me an example of one that is, in order for me and other collectors to identify for future reference, as there is no information whatsoever in the the GB specialised vol l on these varieties, d...

Re: Reversed laid paper ?

The design of the multiple crown watermark is such that even reversed it would still look the same, therefore it has previously been unnoticed and overlooked in the past, and only by studying the embodiment of the paper can this be determined. Having gone through 1000s of this particular issue, I ha...

Reversed laid paper ?

Some of the stamps affected appear to have reversed lines in them, as if the paper roll had been reversed during the wate...
