Re: Help with Plating Please
Hi Rustical
Your stamp looks like Plate 108, i cannot find any reason why it isnt this plate.
The check letters appear to match with the imprimatur exactly.

Re: Q V Penny reds on scottish cover
Hi Ikfman,
I have consulted The Cancellations Of The 1841 Penny Red and The Postmarks Of Great Britain
and Ireland and they do not mention a distinctive Maltese Cross for Banff. It is still a nice item.
They look like crosses used in Edinburgh, but not distinctive enough for separate classification.

In a late Victorian stamp album i found Red Brown, and Brown. I have looked only as far as my own book collection, im sure there are earlier sources out...

Re: Plum
Hi Orchidman, I know one specialist who believes that there is no range of shades of Plum and that is an intense shade. Ive heard that once seen that it is unmistakeable. I have reason to believe that it is pretty scarce in its true colour and that many so called Plum stamps are very dark red browns...

Re: Medieval Life
Hi Scillymoos, I am not a Queen Elizabeth specialist but i have found some information about this set of stamps . Your stamp is part of a set of four values all issued on 17 June 1986, the other values being the 22 Pence, 31 Pence, and 34 Pence. They were issued as a first day cover and as a present...

Re: Postage stamps on covers
Hello J Bodan I personally consider it unacceptable to remove any collectable stamp from its original cover. I assume that we are talking about stamps of some value or of historical interest. I think that specialists and discerning collectors would frown upon this as it would mean that the stamp wou...
