Seeking information on Ink bleed on 2p Machin

http://www.gbps.org.uk/boards/images/transferred/1137_1.jpg Hello All, I am not sufficiently 'into' stamp printing methods to know how this amount of colour has bled onto the margin of the block as illustrated. I understand how the Doctor Blade flaws are caused but not this extra amount of colour. ...

http://www.gbps.org.uk/boards/images/transferred/1135_1.jpg Ian, Thanks for the tip about the papers on the tabs. Unfortunately they are all white so it looks as though I do not have an uncoated paper pane. Thanks to everyone for their help. Whilst on the Cook Book subject does anyone know if the &...

Hello All, Thanks for those swift responses - Asmodeus - I would have thought that myself too, but there is something niggling me that I have read about that line. Unfortunately we have so much printed information around the house, I cannot track it. Could have been from a dealer in the past. Robin ...

Normally the wrappers came the way that you have illustrated but the booklets have obviously been removed from the wrapper.

The booklets came with five threads to the left and five to right, presumably to balance the contents.

The booklets were dispensed thread first.

Ron.

Phosphor cylinder numbers

Hello All, I have a copy of the March 1976 85p folded counter booklet spec. UFB3, perforation type p with ink cylinder 3 dot but with no phosphor cylinder number. Is this unusual? I cannot find a listing of an example with no phos. cyl. I have examined it closely under uv lamp and with a magnifying ...

I had a reply e-mail from Colin and for anyone interested this was what he told me Quote "With regard to your QV registration envelope, the colour of these envelopes does vary from blue to a greeny blue. This issue was subject to a variety of shades owing to the huge number that were printed. A...

Dave, Thanks for that - does G Barrington Smith have an e-mail address do you know? Being in Australia makes it hard to get reference books for this type of thing locally. A dealer on the Gold Coast handles such things as S.G. Concise but the Deegam is a bit esoteric for them I think. I can drop G.B...

Hello Mike, Brilliant. Many thanks for that. How did you know? The listings in the reference books don't show any abbreviations and this was such a poor strike I am amazed that you recognised it. Really appreciate your help with that and also for getting Ben to fix the link problem. Best regards ears

Hi Mozzerb,
As Larry advised I just went to
http://www.deegam.com
and clicked on the big number 4.
It did not take too long to download and we are still on dial up, so if you are broadband it would be even quicker.
An incredible resource and it will be invaluable to us.
Cheers

Larry advised that the Deegam book on coils/leaders was available on line. We took advantage of that and downloaded it and what a fantastic resource and how generous of Doug to make it available on line for free. Such a wealth of information and illustrations and it will be such a boon to us with th...

Thanks for that mozzerb. Very interesting, and of course peoples eyes are different but I could see no blue at all on the green one. I wonder if it is one of those examples of an item being left out in the light and fading? It does not seem that way however and the envelope itself does not give any ...

Registered envelopes

Hello everyone, I have a small collection of G.B. registered envelopes (mint) and have a query on the 1878/79 and 1882 issues. The only listing I can find of these shows that all the embossed stamps are printed in blue ink. However, the examples I have are definitely in green ink. GBPS have publicis...

Hello again Dave. I had replied to your message on the KEVIII thread but have just read this one. We are interested in coil leaders of all reigns and if you would like to see examples of what we have in the George 6th you could check it out on the relevant page on our website. Go to http://www.earsa...

Hi Dave, I am very interested in KEVIII issues and have a few coil leaders (only half a dozen and not as many as I would like of course) so would be interested to hear from you. I do not have any 'varieties' as such on any of mine though. Are you interested in only coils or the KEVIII stamps as a wh...
