Dates that KGVI Definitives ceased to be legally used?

I have a Postcard that was posted in Wincanton, Somerset on 17th June 1954 with 2 x 1d KGVI Ultramarine stamps affixed and cancelled by Krag machine cancel (MS1), what was the cut off date for the usage of these KGVI Definitives, considering the King died on 05/02/52?

Maltese Cross - Cromarty, Ross & Cromarty

Cromarty was in the 17th century a ma...

Re: A Triangular Inspector’s Mark?

Dear Lancastrian,

Sorry not able to help but only to add to your question:

I have several postcards with Triangular 'Inspector's Marks', with the following letters/numbers inside SE4, GE and GB8, would anyone be able to tell me more about these or where I can find more information on these marks.

'Dumb' Postmark

Please would anybody be able to tell me more about this postmark, I think it was called a dumb postmark and used on post from soldiers in active service during WW1. Was there a similar postmark used in WW2?

Re: Newsprint Triangular Postmarks

Mike,
Thank you very much for your valuable information, do you know where I can get a copy of Harry Layne's The Triangular Marks of Great Britain (2003)? I have tried Amazon, E-bay, Abe Books all without joy.

Richard.

Re: Newsprint Triangular Postmarks

I have many (200+) Triangular postmarks all of which are in Bold Capitals as the font, yet I have come across this one in a 'handwritten style' font for Worthing (WG), can anyone tell me about this anomaly?
