Martin, you are correct that there is not a diagram of perf E in Vol 4, Part 1. Part of the reason for this is that perf E was never used on QEII panes from stitched booklets between 1952 and 1975. Martin, simple answer is that no one knows why they used a different sheet perforator resulting in change from perf I to perf P. Mike, there is no single reference to booklet preparation and make up but all the components are well known. Obviously, this differs depending on which booklets you want to look at - stitched up to 1975, with panes of 2, 4, 6 or 15 then folder books etc from then on. I am not about to write a thesis...
