I would be interested to know when the Leeds sideways duplex was first used. I have one on piece dated 29 June

I notice from my copy of The Spoon Experriment 1853-1858 by R M Willcocks that on Page 5 a trial in Leeds commenced about June 1st 1854 for about six months. This is a useful little booklet.

Parmenter records the first type as as issued 30th May 1854 with an earliest known use of 30th June 1854.
I cannot lay my hands on my Arundel books but will find reply when I find them, if no-one else has responded.

As far as I am aware Arundel never did 'sideways duplexes'. The last serious study was Traill and Holland in 1975 and the issued and earliest dates are the same as Parmenter
