On trying to trace the plate numbers of these two stamps I thought it would be easy as they both appear to have individual markings, the Derby one has what looks like a finger under the check letter 'R' and the Retford one has a blurred 'M' or is it an "H" ?
Any chance of some intervention ?

A couple of oddities
Re: A couple of oddities
Not sure about RA, but I would put money on the “Retford” one being OE from Plate 91

Hmm! There's no mention of any special markings for check letters OE on plate 91 in my SG part 1 specialised. WM
Re: A couple of oddities
I make RA to be plate 149 and would agree with Petrod on OE as plate 91
The E on 91 is very blured.
the mark on 149 is just an ink stain not normal on this plate. In my opinion.

Re: A couple of oddities
The info in Brown/Fisher Vol 2 regarding Plate 91 OE is quite clear and backed up by the extension west of the top of OF.

Thank you both for pointing out that the OE is from plate 91, you have used a section of the adjoining stamp OF which has an extension line to verify its plate number : 5 brownie points . WM
